Time to get back at it. The time will be the same. The format of the sessions will change a little bit. The brothers will gather again. Spread the word.
Here are the details.Doctrine and Devotion: A Men’s Apprenticeship (Part 2) Brothers, join us. Starting on October 2nd we will meet Friday mornings from 5:30 – 7:00 am. We are planning to meet 10 times before the new year.
The book of Romans, an introduction to systematic theology, and a refresher on spiritual disciplines as habits of grace.
Let’s go! We will sing, study, exhort, discuss, think, train, challenge, laugh, grow, and pray.
Who should come? Men who are members of or have started the membership process at Cornerstone Bible Church, and who desire to grow in doctrine and devotion, in the knowledge of God and the life of godliness.
What will be required? First, you will need to prayerfully work through the biblical material and occasional assignments each week. Second, you will need to read the selected portion of Everyone’s a Theologian or Habits of Grace as assigned. Third, we will need to be disciplined in coming to the meetings on time and ready to engage. Fourth, you will need to be prepared to be stretched and strengthened.
For those brothers who may have some desire for the office of overseer (pastor/elder), there will be additional components of guided ministry engagement with feedback and assessment. Our vision is that as a whole there will be 4 to 6 sessions (spanning 2 to 3 years). However, you only need to commit to one session at a time (usually around 13 weeks). Doctrine and Devotion is intended to be one of the means by which we as pastors execute our clear mandate to raise up elder qualified men in obedience to 2 Tim. 2:2 “and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”
What you need to do if you are interested:
First, contact pastor Eric.
Second, order Everyone’s a Theologian by R. C. Sproul and Habits of Grace by David Mathis right away.
Join us, brothers.
13 Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done in love.
